Sungrow Inverters Review

If you're in the market for a solar inverter, you may have come across the Sungrow brand. Sungrow offers a range of single and three-phase solar inverters, including the SG5K D 5kw single phase inverter and hybrid inverters. In this review, we'll take a closer look at the features and benefits of Sungrow inverters.

Sungrow Inverters Review

The most popular inverter from Sungrow that we offer is the Sungrow SG5K D or 8kw solar inverter single phase SG8K D. If you're after larger system you'll be looking at the Sungrow 10kw 3 phase inverter which we review here and is great for home use. For a storage system, now or in the future, Sungrow have the new Hybrid Inverter GEN2 SH5K-20 and 30. Sungrow got their start in 1997, and since then have spread their wings around the world. While based in China they have become one of the big firms in solar PV World wide. They are in fact a huge producer of PV inverters. Sungrow have grown a lot here in Aussie over the last few years. This is because they have built up trust with buyers, and have a branch here as well. So after sales support is one of their strong points.

Sungrow SG5K-D 5kW and SG8K-D 8kW Inverters

Single Phase Sungrow Inverters

The new "GEN2" has all the good points of the old series, while it has some nice new stuff too. The Sungrow SG5K-D to the SG8K-D, come in a cool new silver case, while it still has an LCD screen too. This is good news because some makes have been busy to take their LCD's out. If there is no LCD then it is not as easy to get info about your PV kit. Of course they all have Wi Fi too so you can see the info on your phone or PC. Has a good 5 year warranty as well. At the moment they are giving an extra 5 years on parts too.

Sungrow 8kW 10kw single phase inverter

The largest single-phase inverter that you can get from Sungrow is the SG8K-D 8kW, but it doesn’t need to worry you if you have a large roof, and a big power bill, and you are looking to install a 10kW solar system. The Sungrow 8kW is the right inverter for this job. It can take extra panels, no problems.

This is partly due to panel efficiency losses that affect all systems, but also, the rule is that you are allowed to have your solar power system oversized by up to 133%, therefore 8kW x 133% = 10.64kW of panels. This is the maximum you can connect to a Sungrow 8kW single phase inverter.

If you still need to go for a larger single-phase inverter, you might want to look at Growatt 10000TL-X which has also proven to be very reliable, great warranty and you can get it at a good price too!

Sungrow 10 KW Inverter Datasheet: Technical Specifications and Features

The SG8K-D Premium is a single-phase inverter that is designed for residential and small commercial solar systems. It has a maximum AC output power of 8,000 watts and a maximum DC input voltage of 1,000 volts.

Key Features:

  • Compact design: The inverter is compact and lightweight, making it easy to install and maintain.
  • High efficiency: The SG8K-D Premium has a high efficiency rating of up to 98.4%, which helps to maximize the energy output of your solar system.
  • Dual MPPT design: The inverter has a dual MPPT design, which allows it to optimize the power output from two separate arrays of solar panels.
  • Integrated AFCI: The inverter has an integrated arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI), which helps to prevent fires caused by electrical arcing.
  • Grid support functions: The SG8K-D Premium has a range of grid support functions, including reactive power control and voltage regulation, which help to ensure that your solar system is connected safely and reliably to the grid.

Overall, the Sungrow SG8K-D Premium inverter is a high-performance, reliable, and user-friendly option for residential and small commercial solar systems.

sungrow 5kw inverter 3 phase review

If you have three phase power at your home, then here is the answer to your PV needs. The sungrow 5kw - 8kw 3 phase inverter has all the things you need in an inverter. It has dual MPPT so it gets the best out of the sunlight that is there. So as you might know, like all Sungrow products, it has a great out put rate which is 98%. It does not make much noise, that is, the unit itself runs on next to no power.

Its such a good design that it doesn't get hot and so it doesn't need a fan to stay cool. It has Wi Fi too so that you can go on line and see what your PV system is doing. This unit lets you hook up more panels in a string with input up to 1000V, so that's a lot! It comes in 5k, 6k and 8kW sizes too,so one of these has to suit your needs!

The Sungrow 3 phase is a Multi-MPPT String Inverters which means that your solar panels are always working at their maximum efficiency, no matter what the conditions. In fact, A MPPT will increase the amount of electricity that you get out of the solar panels by about 15% per 1 year.

Sungrow 10kW - 12kW 3 phase inverter

If you're looking to cover your roof with 10kw panels - sungrow 10kw 3 phase inverter SG10KTL-M is an excellent choice, or you can go even larger with Sungrow 12kw SG12KTL-M Inverter.

Sungrow SH5K Hybrid Inverter

The Sungrow SH5K has been here for a while now (and recently updated), it is in fact a hybrid inverter. This is great if you want to use it as part of a PV storage set up now or later. But, there are a few things that you will need to work out, though before taking the plunge. In short this unit has HFIBC too. So what is that? When it charges a battery, it does it in a far better way.
It has 48V on the battery and also a max charge and discharge of 65A. Due to a great IP 65 design it is great for Off Grid projects too. And then It has a 3000 watt back up on the battery as well to cap it off. What's more, this unit has its own EMS set up too. So to wrap up, it has a DI/DO port for both Li-on and lead acid too. Sungrow Inverter Warranty

In Australia, most CEC-approved inverters are available with the manufacturers Standard 5-year Warranty. The Sungrow Premium range of inverters comes with a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty. The actual warranty period commencing from the installation date of inverter, or within 6 months from the manufacture date, whichever occurs first.

The standard 5-year warranty is quickly becoming one of the shorter inverter warranties offered in Australia, with many companies starting to offer a full, 10-year standard warranty. However, these warranties are only worth something if the company underwriting them, is still around. In this case, Sungrow is very well established in Australia, with a head office in North Sydney, so its not likely to be a problem later on. They also have an excellent help desk too, for any queries you may have.

You can also purchase a 5-year warranty extension from Sungrow. The cost can vary, so it’s best to check their website to get the latest cost to extend your warranty. If you buy an extra 5-years, this will take you to 15-years total cover on your Premium Sungrow inverter.
